  Opposition Leader Douglas Tomuriesa said he is disappointed and embarrassed over the way His Holiness Pope Francis was treated by Prime Minister James Marape over the last three-days during the Papal visit, and the lack of courtesy and respect shown by the Prime Minister. He said the Prime Minister continuously declares PNG as a ‘Christian country’ and prides himself on being a religious individual but he was surprised when the Pope was continuously snubbed by the PM over the weekend since the Pope’s arrival on Friday. “The Pope is the head of the Catholic church, the largest Christian church in the world and he is also a head of state. “PNG not only being a Christian country, but a country that prides itself as a ‘friend to all, enemy to none’, the PM should be according the Pope with the highest level of respect,” Tomuriesa said. FORMER state minister Arrested

  FORMER state minister and third term member for Kumine in Chimbu Province, was charged with counts of charges relating to alleged kidnapping.Nick Kuman was arrested and charged by the Police at the Boroko Police Station two weeks ago on September 12, and is facing one count each of the charges of deprivation of liberty and conspiracy to deprivation of liberty.He appeared in Waigani district court on Thursday for mention.Magistrate Paul Puri Nii read out the charges against Kuman during his first appearance at the Waigani district court and gave the police prosecutor one month to prepare all police files, evidences including completing investigations before the matter returns next month on October 27,2022. The district court has also extended his K1,000 Police bail on conditions that he must to not travel out of National Capital District and not to interfere with the state witnesses.   by Police Insiders On Saturday a police officer and Mospal Marape son of Prime Minister James Marape from first wife Susie Anis and his cousin Seth Palipe the son of Moses Palipe who runs James Marape's private construction company Ipwenz Construction flew in from POM and landed at Komo Airport again with K1.6million in cash with some Defence force uniform and drove up to Hela but caught by Security forces along their way to Tari, The Police officer was belted up by other security personals and he's fighting for his life in ICU at Tari Hospital! James Marape's son Mospal Mapare was in the police cell for two days and was released night night at around 10pm, we also recovered extra ballot paper's and burn them in front of the police station yesterday. POMALEU: PNG NEEDS BOLD LEADERS

  Secretary to the Department of Prime Minister and National Executive Council Ivan Pomaleu said Papua New Guinea needs leaders who are able to boldly take decisions for the welfare of the people. Mr. Pomaleu said this last night during the NBC Government Talkback Show. Secretary Pomaleu said it is to foster, plan and address important development for Papua New Guinean's. He said "In the country, we need leaders that are able to boldly take decisions that affect the welfare of each and every citizen of this country. To foster and plan important development pathways for us to be able to strengthen relationships at international levels to be able to understand the core issues, development, health, education. Those are important things that resonate with ordinary citizens conversations that you and I are aware of and those are the things that I believe they will be looking for in any leader that gets elected into Parliament."

OVER 5 MILLION TO VOTE

  Over five million people are expected to cast their votes throughout the country this and next week in the 2022 polls. The Electoral Commission has reported a generally good turn out of day one of polling today throughout the country. Simon Sinai told the NBC Government Talkback Show tonight, all provinces with scheduled polling days today started, except for the Autonomous Region of Bougainville. He said "In general, at least there's one or two electorates have started their polling in all the provinces which is a good sign." Mr. Sinai said the other issues of late start to polls, names missing on the rolls, among others, are common issues in every election. He was responding to questions about certain provinces whose pollings didn't commence as planned for today. WEST SEPIK POLLING SLOW

Polling for the West Sepik Province got off a slow start this morning. West Sepik Election Manager Salote Kai said Vanimo Urban LLG commenced polling today, while LLGs in Vanimo-Green and the other three electorates of Aitape Lumi, Nuku and Telefomin will commence polling either tomorrow Tuesday July 5th or on Wednesday July 6th. Kai said the main reason for the delay is the late arrival of election materials, like ballot boxes and other administrative issues. Vanimo Urban LLG commenced its polling at 11 o'clock today, despite a scheduled starting time of 8 o'clock in the morning. All the 7 Wards in the Vanimo Urban LLG commenced polling today.

VOTERS TURNED AWAY IN CENTRAL PROVINCE

  Polling in Central Province did not start on a good note because some eligible voters in the Rigo District Ward 16 were turned away today by polling officers. This is because their names were not on the updated electoral roll. People at Saroakeina village in the Ward 16 area of the Rigo Central LLG including Saroakeina, Poligolo and Porigere and other wards in parts of the province were turned away, Sabuia. Polling Officer for Rigo Central at Saroakeina referred NBC News to the Elections Manager Peter Malaifeope for comments. Mr. Malaifeope told NBC News at the weekend that issues with the electoral roll update was the responsibility of individuals. The ward councillor has called on the Electoral Commission to look into this matter, as eligible voters including voters who voted in past elections are being turned away. Meanwhile, polling for Kwikila will be this Thursday, while Keapara will be on Friday.
