  Opposition Leader Douglas Tomuriesa said he is disappointed and embarrassed over the way His Holiness Pope Francis was treated by Prime Minister James Marape over the last three-days during the Papal visit, and the lack of courtesy and respect shown by the Prime Minister. He said the Prime Minister continuously declares PNG as a ‘Christian country’ and prides himself on being a religious individual but he was surprised when the Pope was continuously snubbed by the PM over the weekend since the Pope’s arrival on Friday. “The Pope is the head of the Catholic church, the largest Christian church in the world and he is also a head of state. “PNG not only being a Christian country, but a country that prides itself as a ‘friend to all, enemy to none’, the PM should be according the Pope with the highest level of respect,” Tomuriesa said. Marape attends inquiry

PRIME Minister James Marape has told the Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the sale and purchase of the Motukea Wharf in Port Moresby that he would be available on Tuesday for cross-examination.
He was summoned by inquiry on May 17 and his response was presented by way of affidavit on Monday
Senior counsel assisting the inquiry Gibson Geroro on day 53 of the hearing yesterday confirmed that they had received Marape’s affidavit and was tendered yesterday.
“The commission received Marape’s document on Nov 7 which was also tendered by the COI commissioner Sike Julian Toulik,” Geroro said.
Toulik said the document that was tendered would be used as evidence in the inquiry.
Meanwhile, Geroro said they were yet to circulate copies of Marape’s affidavit to those interested parties who may want to cross examine the prime minister.
Geroro said due to the matter he had seek the commission to adjourn the matter to a later date depending on the availability of Marape.
“If it transpires that those interested do not need to cross-examine Marape the commission would discharge the summons and Marape will not need to attend the COI,” he said,
“Otherwise for current purposes the commissioner would need to put a proposed date for Marape to attend COI.”
The inquiry resumes on Nov 15 for hearing and for those interested parties to cross-examine Marape based on his affidavit.
