A MEMBER of the National Capital District Taskforce facing a murder charge over the death of a betel nut vendor at Rainbow, Port Moresby, in 2019 was committed to stand trial in the National Court.
He has another murder charge against him, committed in 2018, which is before the committal court pending submissions.
Magistrate Tracy Ganaii in the Waigani Committal Court on Friday, ordered that Andrew Kupuso appear in the National Court for listings on Monday, after sufficient evidence was found against him.
Kupuso, 26, of Chambri in Wosera-Gawi, East Sepik, is alleged to have caused the death of Peter Pamben on Sept 16, 2019.
Pamben was chased into the Assemblies of God Institution where he climbed over the fence into Port Moresby National High School.
He got trapped on the sharp edges of the iron fence.
Kupuso was alleged to have approached Pamben and struck him with a softball bat while he was struggling to free himself.
While Pamben was still caught on the spiked fence, Const John Selan Lovana approached him and allegedly pulled him off the fence aggressively.
That resulted in severe injuries which caused Pamben’s death.
Kupuso was remanded.
Const Lovana is out on a K2,000 National Court bail.
