  Opposition Leader Douglas Tomuriesa said he is disappointed and embarrassed over the way His Holiness Pope Francis was treated by Prime Minister James Marape over the last three-days during the Papal visit, and the lack of courtesy and respect shown by the Prime Minister. He said the Prime Minister continuously declares PNG as a ‘Christian country’ and prides himself on being a religious individual but he was surprised when the Pope was continuously snubbed by the PM over the weekend since the Pope’s arrival on Friday. “The Pope is the head of the Catholic church, the largest Christian church in the world and he is also a head of state. “PNG not only being a Christian country, but a country that prides itself as a ‘friend to all, enemy to none’, the PM should be according the Pope with the highest level of respect,” Tomuriesa said. Incident Report: Hit and Run Accident

**Incident Description:**  

This morning, a hit and run accident occurred at Vadavada involving a black Toyota Harrier with the license plate number BGI 711. The vehicle was later located by Siera-411 Bravo members at Morata 2 following a complaint and subsequent lead-up operation. The vehicle has been transported, accompanied by the complainant, to the Boroko Traffic Office for further handling. The driver of the vehicle is currently absconding, but their identity is known to the authorities.


**Actions Taken:**  

1. The vehicle involved in the incident was identified and located by Siera-411 Bravo members.

2. The vehicle was moved to the Boroko Traffic Office for investigation.

3. The identity of the driver has been established, although the individual is yet to be apprehended.


**Recommendations:**  

- A thorough investigation **will** be conducted to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

- Efforts **will** be intensified to apprehend the fleeing driver to face appropriate legal action.

  FORMER state minister and third term member for Kumine in Chimbu Province, was charged with counts of charges relating to alleged kidnapping.Nick Kuman was arrested and charged by the Police at the Boroko Police Station two weeks ago on September 12, and is facing one count each of the charges of deprivation of liberty and conspiracy to deprivation of liberty.He appeared in Waigani district court on Thursday for mention.Magistrate Paul Puri Nii read out the charges against Kuman during his first appearance at the Waigani district court and gave the police prosecutor one month to prepare all police files, evidences including completing investigations before the matter returns next month on October 27,2022. DPM SAM BASIL PASSES ON AFTER NASTY CAR ACCIDENT

Deputy Prime Minister and Transport and Infrastructure Minister and Bulolo MP, Sam Basil has passed on at around 11pm after a nasty car accident last night. Preliminary police reports say the vehicle Mr Basil was in was hit by another vehicle, causing the accident that left the Deputy Prime Minister unconscious till he passed on at the Bulolo hospital. Sources on the ground say a local medical team were already working to revive him as soon as he was brought to Bulolo. A doctor was also travelling with the Manalos Aviation team to Medivac Mr. Basil to Lae, but the mission was unsuccessful as he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
