  Opposition Leader Douglas Tomuriesa said he is disappointed and embarrassed over the way His Holiness Pope Francis was treated by Prime Minister James Marape over the last three-days during the Papal visit, and the lack of courtesy and respect shown by the Prime Minister. He said the Prime Minister continuously declares PNG as a ‘Christian country’ and prides himself on being a religious individual but he was surprised when the Pope was continuously snubbed by the PM over the weekend since the Pope’s arrival on Friday. “The Pope is the head of the Catholic church, the largest Christian church in the world and he is also a head of state. “PNG not only being a Christian country, but a country that prides itself as a ‘friend to all, enemy to none’, the PM should be according the Pope with the highest level of respect,” Tomuriesa said. OMBUDSMAN COMMISSION URGES VOTERS TO EXERCISE CAUTION WHEN VOTING

The Ombudsman Commission is calling on all eligible voters to exercise caution when casting their votes in the 2022 National Election.
From recorded statistics, the Ombudsman Commission said that good moral ethical standards in leaders are a real problem in the country today, therefore, there's a need to elect good leaders in the upcoming election.
According to the Ombudsman Commission statistics, more than 100 leaders from different sectors of government have been investigated and referred to the Public Prosecutor for prosecution since independence.
The Ombudsman Commission is concerned that basic services, like proper health care, are not trickling down to rural areas because of the bad decisions of those in influential positions.
With negative impact stories hitting the headlines every day, the Ombudsman Commission is urging eligible voters to consider the qualities of the candidate of their choices.
Some major qualities outlined in the Leadership Code in the Constitution includes, selflessness and the ability to deliver services, Integrity, Honesty, Fairness and Accountability, among others.
Voters are also warned not to sell their votes for money, material benefits or any form of inducements.
