Douglas Tomuriesa, Pope Francis and James Marape

Image
Opposition Leader Douglas Tomuriesa said he is disappointed and embarrassed over the way His Holiness Pope Francis was treated by Prime Minister James Marape over the last three-days during the Papal visit, and the lack of courtesy and respect shown by the Prime Minister. He said the Prime Minister continuously declares PNG as a ‘Christian country’ and prides himself on being a religious individual but he was surprised when the Pope was continuously snubbed by the PM over the weekend since the Pope’s arrival on Friday. “The Pope is the head of the Catholic church, the largest Christian church in the world and he is also a head of state. “PNG not only being a Christian country, but a country that prides itself as a ‘friend to all, enemy to none’, the PM should be according the Pope with the highest level of respect,” Tomuriesa said. The Opposition Leader pointed out that on Friday, the Prime Minister did not welcome the Pope at the airport, a tradition he had accorded to many othe...

PO: I think James Marape is blind and desperate

Image
I think James Marape is blind and desperate. He and Pangu have no policies going into this election and has therefor nothing to debate. It makes me think about his infamous and now embarrassing, Marape Manifesto where his hollow words still ring out. He is simply lost and incompetent so now looking for things to say. I thank James Marape for the opportunity to talk about what PNC Government delivered for Lae If he wants to know what PNC Government has done in Lae, he should be ashamed driving on the roads and landing on the runway we built. He should be ashamed of flying his Pangu flags on power poles that we built. We PNC Government have transformed Lae pothole city into a cement road city using our local know how to ensure we built roads that can withstand the heavy rainfall in the city. We have built a world class Port providing much needed shipping services so that Lae can take up its rightful place as the industrial capital of PNG. We approved and started building the 4-lane...

PM SAYS HE WILL RESIGN IF PANGI PATI DID NOT FORM GOV.

Image
Prime Minister and Tari-Pori MP James Marape made a bold statement in Hela Province yesterday (Thursday) that he would resign as their MP if his ruling Pangu Pati did not form the Government after the 2022 elections. His statement before thousands of people in Tari after he was nominated shows his confidence in retaining the Open Seat. He thanked his people for their undivided support for him over the last 15 years in Parliament. Mr Marape says he wants Pangu Pati to have the numbers for the Governor-General to invite them to form the Government. He says he has already told the Pangu caucus that if they do not get the invitation to form Government, he will resign as party leader, and as Tari-Pori MP. Mr Marape says Tari-Pori has transformed over the last three years with a new airport runway and terminal, the Hulukumaiya Haus, National Development Bank and many other developments because all levels of government worked together under his leadership. The Prime Minister, after nominating...
